CITIES STEP UP TO FIGHT FORECLOSURES

Since early 2008, city councils in Boston, Worcester and Lawrence have passed home-rule petitions aimed at preventing foreclosure and curbing the blight decimating urban neighborhoods. One Boston City Council measure calls for establishing a mediation process for troubled homeowners and foreclosing lenders or mortgage servicers.
