Fiber actually absorbs water and makes food softer so that it is easy to digest. Without water, you just may find yourself in a bit of pain while digestion. The recommended levels of water are eight glasses a day for someone on a high fiber diet to lose weight. However, drinking too much water will prevent your body from absorbing the nutrients that it needs so you should try to stick to eight glasses and no more.
