The cost of hearing aids and how to pay for them
When you are ready to buy a digital hearing aid device one thing you will need to consider is how to pay for them and how much do they cost? The average price for hearing aids today runs from $1,000 to $4,000. Why do they cost so much? The main reason for this is the research that the companies are doing to improve the technology in hearing aids. The second reason is hearing aids today, are fitted for each person individually after they take their hearing test to determine how much hearing loss they have.
Does medicare and medicade pay for the hearing aids? No, they do not, unless you live in Texas. Texas medicaid will pay for two hearing aids every five years if a health exam has proven your hearing loss qualifies. Standard health insurance will not cover them either. You will have to pay for them out of pocket or find an alternative way to pay for them.
If you are low income the best sources for help in paying for your hearing aids would be private foundations, The Lion’s Clubs and Sertoma Clubs and checking with your emplyer to see if they will help cover
the cost.
