Parenting Teens Can be a Challenge
In this brief article we will discuss a little about parenting teens. It can sometimes be difficult when the teen immediately responses with resentment. The way your teen see’s it, is that there is no other parent that is so obsessive about taking away some of there freedom. If you had a young child and he or she was wanting to do something that really was not good for him or her, then chances are you would not have any problem turning them down so they would not get in trouble. Also, you probably would apply some sternness if it were needed.
Those parents that are new to parenting teens do notice that their adolescents will not seem completely logical part of the time. And chances are they would be right most of the time. Due to the way the human brain develops over time, not all areas will grow consistently or uniformly. So what can we expect when that happens? Well, some of the things will seem a bit more important than they need to be, like what their friends think, and other things will seem less important, like sensible basic rules about safety.
Disciplining teens can work as long as your teen will see some consistent demonstration that you care more for them than anything else in the world. At first your teen may behave a little strange, but deep inside they are just waiting to burst forward. Just remember, do all you can with lots of love and discipline and try not to take it too personal when they get out of hand. You will need to be very strong and firm as you continue down the path of raising your teen.
