Restaurant First Aid Kits
All food service businesses should have restaurant first aid kits to deal with minor injuries, but restaurants, delicatessens and other food-serving establishments have special safety issues and therefore should have on their premises ones that are suited to their particular needs.
In addition to all the usual bumps and bruises that can occur in any workplace, restaurants have a greater need for basic medical care to deal with burns, for example. This is because accidents that can occur involving hot food and beverages, or with staff coming in contact with hot stoves and ovens.
Restaurant first aid kits can be purchased at large drug stores or from various online sellers. They are also available from the Red Cross.
Once you have acquired your restaurant first aid kit, it is important that all staff members are made aware of where it will be kept, what it contains and how to use it.
Reasons for wanting to have a basic medical emergency supplies in your establishment should be obvious. But beyond that, there are regulations in most jurisdictions regarding which businesses or organizations have to have first aid kits on site, and how many, and what they must contain, etc. Find out what the laws are in your area.
