What would you say to someone who claimed that he had successfully quit smoking, and then right before your eyes, fished out a pack of cigarettes and then took one out? Well, you could call him a liar, but only technically would he be one. Because it’s quite probable that what he fishes out are electronic cigarettes not real cigarettes, go here to buy e-cigarette. It’s the latest way to sustain or quit cigarette addiction without really smoking. The problem is, that legally speaking, electronic cigarettes operate in a kind of gray area.

E-cigarettes don’t really release any smoke. You don’t even light them up. You just draw on these stylish-looking sticks, and they release a stream of nicotine for you to inhale. You don’t harm your body with all of the effects of cigarette smoke – there is no tar or carbon monoxide or any of the hundreds of other harmful chemicals that cigarette smoke contains. You could sit in the middle of a smoking-free restaurant and draw and blow as much as you wanted with an electronic cigarette. The restaurant wouldn’t be able to stop you because you wouldn’t really blowing anything out at all. There’s no smoke or smell.

About 50 million Americans smoke regular cigarettes. When they try to quit, and about half do every year, they usually use patches or gums or they try to quit cold turkey. Millions of people have found that of all the nicotine replacement methods they’ve used to quit cigarette addiction, e-cigarettes work the best because they bring them closer to the experience of smoking than anything else.

So how should these be regulated if they should be regulated at all? To begin with, the FDA feels that since there aren’t any real laws in place about the dangerous chemical fix that you get from these products, they could be marketed to children. The FDA has on occasion even issued orders to stop imports of these devices. They are asking that the makers of these devices prove through proper clinical trials that these devices really aren’t dangerous and that they really do help people quit cigarette addiction.

Smokers of e-cigarettes claim that they save money smoking these, and that they now have their sense of taste and smell back. The FDA has done preliminary tests and found that these devices deliver a lot more than just nicotine. Apparently there are toxic substances in there. Still, they happen to be far lower in quantity than in cigarettes.

As for the legal gray area, the Department of Transportation has moved to ban e-cigarettes on American flights.
