For residents of Atlanta termite inspection is a major necessity. Underground termites abound in the humid atmosphere of Georgia, and if a colony of termites decides to move into your house or business building, they can do extensive damage in a remarkably short period of time.
You can try to keep an eye out and see if you can detect the presence of termites on your own. Sometimes they leave little piles on window sills or other flat areas of the home that look like a bit of sawdust has accumulated. For underground termites you might also see what looks like tubes made out of mud on the walls or basement on the outside of your house.
The best idea, however, is to have your home inspected by an experienced exterminator every six months or so. In that way you can have certainty that your property is protected from termites and that its value will not be substantially degraded by these insects.
And if you want to get rid of termites on your own, consider that they have lived, evolved and survived for millions of years. They are not easy to eradicate, but a professional exterminator has the tools necessary to do the job.
