Biggest Myth on Stop Smoking Hypnosis
Hypnosis can Help Smokers Quit – but not in the way many think
The biggest myth on stop smoking hypnosis is that of it being a fix-for-all. It’s certainly not that and any smoker that thinks their cravings will automatically disappear with a little stop smoking hypnosis is delusional. Alternative methods of helping with addictions are used in conjunction with, and not instead of, more conventional methods. Stopping smoking is a personal achievement and not something that can the addict can just magic away with hocus-pocus cures. So how does hypnosis help someone to quit the smoking habit?
It changes the mindset pure and simple. It is the mind, more so than the body that keeps a smoker smoking. Sure there is the physical craving, but that doesn’t last forever. Think about it. How many times have we seen someone achieve smoking cessation for many months or even years, enjoyed much improved levels of health and fitness, become more active and happy, and then WHAM! One day they make a conscious decision to start again. There is no physical craving her, but a mental obsession.
The mind can be very cunning and convince us to do all kinds of thing we really know are not good for us. Hypnosis, along with acupuncture and aromatherapy, to name but 3, are all treatments that work on adjusting the mindset so that it can clearly zoom in on the positives and not the negatives of why something is right.
How successful is hypnosis to stop smoking? It depends from the outset whether you think it can help or not. We get what we focus on, and if we think hypnosis is pure baloney and only trying it to please a nagging spouse, then we’ve no chance. Approach it with an open mind, and you may never want to light up again after a couple of sessions.
