Fiberglass Garage Door Insulation

Published by at 4:26 pm under Energy,Energy Efficiency,Environmental,Green Living

Fiberglass garage door insulation can save you lots of money on your utility bills. Many homes have rooms over the garage, and the cold air from the garage tends to penetrate into the room above it or adjacent to it. So, insulating the garage door not only keeps the garage warm in the winter, it also helps keep adjacent rooms warm.

Fiberglass garage door insulation often comes in a kit. Generally the kit includes enough of Fiberglass insulation to cover one regular sized garage door. If you have a two-car garage you will need two kits; one per door. The kits also include fasteners, adhesive, repair tape and gloves.

While each Fiberglas garage door insulation kit comes with all the necessities, including gloves, you may want to protect yourself more during installation by wearing a disposable coverall. After the installation is complete you can just throw the coveralls away. The coveralls will protect your skin against coming into contact with any fiberglass fibers. If by chance you do come in contact with the fiberglass, shower in cold water as this will keep your skin pores closed while it rinses off the fiberglass.
