Menopause Symptoms Vary Greatly
Did you know that 10 percent of women go through menopause without any irregularity? In fact, there are not two women that will have the same symptoms and in the same order.
One of the main menopause symptoms occuring in women’s life is change of menstrual cycle. Periods become more and more shorten, beginning sooner than usual and with a flow heaviness that may also change: with periods becoming either lighter or heavier. Sometimes, birth control pills are prescribed in order to help make periods more regular.
Insomnia
It’s another common symptom which is often due to what is called “hotflashes“. While many women have hotflashes at night and are unable to sleep when they occur, others have difficulty to fall asleep even without them. What happen is that they only sleep a few hours, wake up and are unable to go back to sleep.
Mood Swings
Mood swings, basically, are drastic changes in mood over a short period of time. Approximately 10% of women suffer from mood swings during menopause. For example:
- being angry,
- yelling,
- suddenly laughing one minute, then crying feeling depressed very shortly after.
Many women get on medication for mood swings, while others prefer a more natural solution.
In conclusion, we should say that menopause is due to a reduction of female hormonal production by the ovaries (oestrogen) and that it is a transition from being reproductive to becoming noreproductive.
