Navratri: Worship all the Goddesses
Navratri is the celebration of the universe and its life supporting principalities. Observed for nine nights and ten days at a time, it is a time to worship all the goddesses that are believed to play a part in the preservation of life, promotion of good over evil and the continued growth of wealth. During the nine nights of the Navratri festival, worshiping of the various goddesses, fasting and dancing are carried out. Representations of the goddesses are brought out, dressed in new and colorful attire and other adornments. Instruments of daily use such as agricultural equipment, weapons and vehicles are likewise adorned and worshiped in appreciation of their part in life. Navratri is in truth a celebration of life in the past, today and in the future.
