Power tools make the projects we do much easier. But regardless of the project or tools we are using, we need to follow the rules to be safe. If we don’t serious injury and even death can be the result.
Power tool Safety is very inexpensive, and is a lot less expensive that a trip to the doctor. People choose not to use safety equipment for various reasons, they are in a hurry, or they are more comfortable using the tool the way it is. No one regulates this process, so it is all up to you to be safe.
Each tool you buy will have instructions on safety equipment they recommend you use. Here are a few safety items you should have no matter what tool you are using.
Safety Googles might be the most important safety equipment you buy. There is always a chance of something getting into your eyes. Blades can break also, protecting your eyes is very crucial. Also invest in a good pair of work gloves. When working with wood you will get splinters and metal can cut the skin also.
Power tools can be very loud. Always wear ear plugs when using power tools. Hearing loss can be a serious issue, so make sure you have some sort of protection. The clothing you is important too. Try to wear long sleeves to cut down on cuts and burns. Do not wear loose clothing that can get tangled in power tools, tuck in shirts and remove necklaces or lanyards.
Power tools can make our jobs easier and faster to complete. But we need to take the time to properly invest in safety equipment so as to avoid injury. No matter how many times you have used a power tool, or how careful you are it only takes a second for a accident to happen. Do your best to prevent that injury from happening.
