Vintage National Geographic Articles Make Fascinating Reading
National Geographic Magazine back issues are filled with informative storiess that remind us of the times they were published in. A lot of their articles cover cultures that may not vary much over the decades, but the tone of the writing and the advertising inside each issue are windows into the concerns of the contemporary world of the time.
Most issues also have articles about the times they are written in. As an example, the December 1944 issue has a piece entitled Red Cross Girl Overseas, and one entitled Michigan Fights, which discuss the experiences of an American Red Cross volunteer far from home and the contributions to the war effort made by America’s industrial heartland.
Vintage National Geographic articles are intriguing storehouses of information about times that we usually only see portrayed in movies.
