Voltage to Frequency Converters

Published by at 5:04 am under Industrial Mechanical

When you need to convert voltage to frequency, keep in mind that there are a number of ways to achieve this. The approach may vary based on the desired speed, precision, dynamic range, response time and other factors. In any case, industrial and production processes often require a high quality voltage to frequency converter for this purpose. A V-to-F converter is an electronic unit or device that converts voltage inputs to a proportional (linearly) frequency output. Converters can process low signals through the use of low-drift input amplifiers, yet the converter can maintain high levels of input resistance. Frequency outputs from the voltage to frequency converter may be sent to potentiometers, relays, timers, counters or switches.

Carotron, Inc., a manufacturer of motor control products, makes the model VTF230-000 Voltage to Frequency Converter. This V-to-F module converts analog signals to digital pulse train, and will accept voltage or process current input. A potentiometer can easily be connected as the input. If you need a voltage to frequency converter for your facility or application, contact a distributor or the manufacturer to determine what type of converter you’ll need.
