Why Termites Need Moisture?
Why do termites need moisture in order to survive? Well, here’s why. They require the saturation moisture level of approximately 99-100% in their colonies as they need to shed their cuticles for the rest of their lives. They need to be constantly hydrated or else they will not be able to sustain life.
The reason why termites create tunnels from and to their colonies is in order that water can easily access their colonies and thereby meet their survival need. Therefore if you don’t want your house infested by termites then make sure that areas all around your house are kept dry as termites are attracted to moisture.
Actually, termites are classified according to their nesting habits. Among the classifications are drywood, subterranean, arboreal, dampwood and mound building termites and each has different characteristics that should be considered in order to aid in termite treatment preferences.
