With hybrid cars, we can suspend the use of Fuerteventura car hire

After struggling to settle my car accident solicitor, I got my hands on an article that infuriated me so much. I hope every American gets to see this, we need to do something if our own auto companies have failed us.

When purchasing a new car, gasoline economy was a key factor for at least one-third of American car buyers.Back in 1992 already General Motors built a vehicle that got 100 miles to the gallon – and all these yearsafterwards one of people’s major concerns on top of global warming and pollution is dependence on foreign oil. There was also a car that looked a lot like the Geo Metro and weighed 1000 pounds, which boasted 75 miles per gallon gas mileage. Regrettably, to be able to meet American safety regulations, the 3-cylinder vehicle required reinforcement weighing 200 pounds, which ended in further development being discarded.

It might be surprising that GM had this car built and discontinued, but they had other prototypes that ended the same way. These cars include the GM Lean-Machine in 1982 at 80 MPG, and the GM Ultralite which got 100 MPG. GM was selling cars to the buying public in 1992 that did 20 mpg, while Honda was getting 50 mpg with their Civic VX, but right then GM already covertly had cars doing 100 miles per gallon. If cars that had beencapable of doing 100 miles per gallon had already been developed way back then, why is it that such cars are not being sold today?

It is just a peculiar phenomenon that some companies promote traditional vehicles in the US, but sell different, more efficient cars in other countries. Cars that achieve more than 70 mpg have been purchased in Europe and Japan for a lot of years. To illustrate, the Volswagen Lupo has never been marketed in north america – this is a car that gets 78 mpg. In 2007, Honda in the US released the FIT, in other regions known as the Jazz. There areeconomy-boosting selections with the Jazz in Japan, say for example a smaller engine and other ways to reduce consumption, but not so with the Fit in the US.

In America the manufacturers point out they have to build big cars mainly because that is what the American public wants. Building a small commuter type vehicle doesn’t make the manfacturer big money, unlike with a large SUV. Commercials have convinced the citizens of the US that Tanks on Wheels are an absolute must to have. Fuel-saving alternatives from the big companies are uncommon, so it’s pretty easy to deduce where theirmotivations lay. GM could currently have been in the vanguard with fuel-efficient vehicles, but they decided, rather, to champion SUVs. Americans weren’t denied only by GM, but also by the rest of the manufacturers who have developed fuel-efficient cars.

American auto manufacturers have never given the US people the option to acquire a fuel-efficient car, despite the world having beem embroiled in oil wars and being severely polluted. How many people would have loved having a car that got good gas mileage, and were never given the option? Maybe it is time to get those old plans back out and build a vehicle that has already been built before.

That way we will be able to get out of the use of Fuerteventura car hire because it does not come cheap.
