Living older by healthy eating is not a new science and most people know by now what foods will make them overweight and unhealthy in the long term. The problem with modern day folks is that we’re not too keen on the effort needed to maintain a healthy body. Health and fitness comes in 2 parts, one being the foods and beverages we consume, and the other being regular exercise.

Smoking is bad for our health, and everyone knows it, yet millions still continue the habit, and millions more have no problem starting. We actually cause many of our diseases by the lifestyle choices we make, and then when we get sick, really sick, we think we’ve just hit bad luck.

The only luck involved is not getting sick when living a poor lifestyle, but it’s not BAD luck when we do because it’s expected to happen.

A lot of people think it’s a great achievement when they get back into good health after years of abusing their bodies, and in many ways it is, but the real achievement it to not allow ourselves to get into such a state to begin with!

Passive Smoking Effect on Young Children

My mother has never smoked, but then my father probably made up for that by chain smoking for England. He’d smoke in the car with all windows shut when were went on family outings, in the house, including the bathroom, and he’d even walk into our bedroom with a cigarette hanging from his lips, as he attempted to wish us good night between the non-stop choking coughs. He’s dead now, he passed away in his 50’s from smoking related health issues, but we kids have all grown up with lower fitness levels than is normal for our age. The harmful passive smoking effect on young children should never be underestimated.

Smoking should be up there with hardcore addictions like those of class A narcotics, because people seem to have as much trouble weaning off tobacco as they do say crack cocaine or heroin.

The potential long term health implications when parents smoke in front of young kids and teens cannot be stressed often enough. It’s always a major achievement when any family member is able to quit smoking, but it’s a failure of parenthood when Mums and Dads continue to smoke in the presence of their kids in the modern day.
