Designer Collars – My First acquaintance with a Spoiled Puppy

Published by admaster under Articles

Have you ever noticed goods and thought to yourself who in the world goes to purchase that? You realize the form of items I mean. Items that are either tacky or extremely pricey. Every moment I’m out buying I seem to run throughout one thing that fits this description. I additionally appear to run throughout the people that purchase the items.

A number of months ago I used to be out shopping in a serious shopping mall once I noticed that they’d opened a new reward shop. There are a wide variety of excessive-finish presents. There was one section that was reserved for artist canine collars and other assorted presents and apparel for man’s finest pal. Throughout from this part was another show of items for pet kitties. The artist dog collars trapped my eye as a result of a few of them had been locked in a show case because they enclosed gems and have been value a number of 100 dollars. Different of the designer dog collars have been on opened show racks. They featured makers names stamped or embroidered on the collars. These in fact could be customized with your pet’s handle. My companion was together with me and we laughed that we must always obtain one of several gem collars for our golden-haired Labrador retriever for his subsequent searching trip out to the duck slough.

A week later my wife and I have been invited to our neighbor’s home for an open house. We don’t spend quite a lot of time with these neighbors; they have a tendency to run in a different social circle than we do. After we arrived at their dwelling their maid took our coats and directed us to the great space area where the friends had gathered. Once on this room our hostess greeted us. She was holding their small black house puppy. Round his neck the dog had on one of the designer dog collars with several large gemstones. The artist canine collar was leather-based with gold and silver inlaid along with the stones. The hostess saw me trying on the collar and was quick to tell me that she had purchased it at a darling new store within the mall. She also pointed out that the collar was custom done. The gems had been the birthstones of her dog’s mother and father as well as her puppy. She was more than happy that such a tremendous retailer opened inside our community.

On our method dwelling my partner requested me how a lot I thought the artist canine collar cost. I informed him that I didn’t know, but that all the canines within the neighborhood could be very jealous if the worth of the custom collar ever received out.

Bring Your “A” Game When You Enter Screenplay Contests

Published by kliu888 under Articles

You’ve just spent the last two months working on your screenplay and now you’ve finally finished Act III and are ready to make your movie. Whoa, not so fast there. Unless you have five to ten million dollars burning a hole in your pocket, then you still need to get the most important part and that is feedback from a disinterested third party. That’s right, a disinterested third party and that means someone that you don’t know, not just someone that is generally disinterested in things like your cousin Fredo. That is where screenplay contests come into the picture. Screenplay contests are a great place to get some constructive feedback and who knows, you could end up winning the darn thing and getting lots of money and prizes.

A couple of good screenplay contests are the ones at Scriptapalooza and also on scripped.com. You can also find other screenwriting resources listed on the Writers Guild of America site at www.wga.org. For a list of screenplay contests go to www.angelfire.com/movies/coolscreenwriter/contest.html. The Nicholls Fellowship is another great contest as is the Disney Fellowship. Francis Ford Coppola’s production company American Zoetrope, located in San Francisco, California, hosts an annual contest and a great web site at http://www.zoetrope.com/contests/. Go to http://creativescreenwriting.com/aaa/index.html for another of these great screenplay contests from AAA Creative Screenwriting. For another list go to http://www.donedealpro.com/members/listing.aspx?content_type=10.

As you can see, there is no shortage of screenplay contests out there. Before you submit your jewel you need to get some feedback. Check out some of the resource sites available and on display at the WGA site. Spend some money on getting script coverage from a real reader with no agenda. The feedback from this type of third party coverage is invaluable, even if you don’t necessarily agree with it. Compare notes after getting several different readers to give you coverage and if the same things keep popping up, and they will, then you know you have some work to do.

Remember, screenwriting is a collaborative art and you will be taking notes and rewriting on a daily basis if you are one of the lucky ones to get past screenplay contests and actually into production. Whether a studio picks up your script or an indie producer, you have to be ready to work hard for very little money for a long time before you become world famous. And to be brutally honest, you will probably never become famous because writers, especially in Hollywood, are not big celebrities usually unless they are also directors or actors.

You need to have thick skin and not get too personally attached to any one thing in your script. Things will change. Whole scenes, scenes that you loved, will be cut out in order to make the movie flow better. Characters will be eliminated or changed until they are unrecognizable to the author. The most common edits are scenes that cost too much or settings that just can’t be managed, like anything having to do with water. Just ask James Cameron.

The business of finding you lowest air fare just became a lot more crowded

Published by kliu888 under Articles

Have you ever tried to check out fares for your travel plans at a website called ITA Software? The answer to that is probably a Yes and No. Even if you don’t go to the ITA website directly, this is a company whose technology powers most travel websites. It’s been doing well for itself over the last 15 years or so; and now, Google owns it – the Internet giant paid about three-quarters of a billion dollars for it. So what does Google want with it? Well, think about it – Google does search, finding the lowest air fare involve search, it sounds like a pretty well-thought out match.

What Google plans is an industry-heaving move. You’ll be able to search for the lowest fares around using a great combination of Google’s powerful search algorithms, and ITA’s travel smarts. Everyone’s always said this about Google – when they move into a new industry, the industry closes down, and Google is the only one that’s left standing. It happened with the maps business, it practically did with e-mail, Android is taking over the smartphone world, and YouTube marches on practically with no competition. What will happen in the travel industry – to Orbitz, to Expedia and all the other services out there, now that Google has decided to throw its hat in the ring?

Enter the way Google does business; this seems like yet another sign that Google is spreading out from merely directing people to other websites for information, to providing that information by itself. Google has two-thirds of the search market in America, and sometimes more – over the rest of the world. Each time they’ve try to take over a new business, the antitrust regulators and government seem to look more worried. Google Books went and scanned out-of-print books to make available to anyone, and the antitrust people fielded complaints; but when they tried to acquire AdMob for an edge in advertising on cell phones, the FTC put its foot down – until Apple, a competitor, did the same. Everyone’s worried that allowing Google to find the lowest air fare for you will be more concentration of power in the same hands.

The fare-search business has taken a funny little turn now – Bing Travel has always run on ITA Software’s results. So it would seem now, that Bing will actually be displaying Google’s results. But why are the airlines worried about it – why are they planning to sue and stop Google from taking over ITA? They worry that if Google is selling tickets on its own, any airline website an get pushed lower down in the search rankings – behind Google’s own. It could be a very good thing for travelers though. People have specific requirements for how they want to travel, and up till now, the travel search engines have been pretty inflexible. Google with its famed algorithms, could find you not just your lowest air fare, but the best route, the best airline, the best seat, and all with nothing more than just one question worded anyway you wish.

Bona Vacantia

Published by tokyosoon under Articles

The name Bona vacantia , in England, stands for ownerless property that has passed to the crown. Various countries use different names for this procedure. There’s no official name for this in America; it just consists of land that is unclaimed and, as a result, goes to the government. If everyone is unaware of it, however, you can recover it.

Almost any item of worth can be considered ownerless goods such as, abandoned checking accounts, real estate, or even jewelry. There are cases where a deceased person has not made a will or appointed any beneficiary and their property leaving them in limbo. These funds and/or properties are held for an indefinite amount of time by the departments responsible for them until claimed by an heir or the original owner if it was abandoned.

This possibility of being the heir to unclaimed property or having unknown money floating in governmental coffers has opened a wide field for scam artists. It’s easy for many to fall into the trap that the email they just got is true and all they have to do is respond and they are rich. Everyday people fall into this trap and are ripped off by con men every day with the lure of money from nowhere.

These unclaimed properties or moneys are not kept secret but advertised in the local paper, or via a website and they may request some basic personal information such as a full name or possibly relatives names and that information is checked against the database to see if there is property for the inquirer. Occasionally names of relatives will be required.

Contact will soon follow, provided the family names you submit match their list, and you’ll be asked for more information. This is all done by correspondence and no agent will be contacting the applicant. If you know this, you’ll be less likely to be scammed by tricksters.

Anywhere a person has their email or name made public is a source of potential victims for the Unclaimed goods ripoff artist, it could be the phone book, email lists or email scrapers off the internet. The next step in this ripoff is to be contacted by the conman usually by correspondence or by an e-mail and they will be informed they have funds due them. A simple glance won’t usually reveal these communications to be frauds because the con men take pains to make it look as if the letter were from a government or state agency.

The next step is when the victim responds to the communication they will be asked to give their contact details and usually a phone call will be made saying the goods are available but there are expenses or fees that must be paid before it can be released. For the most part, this money gets paid to the con artists, and the victim never receives any of the money they were led to believe they would. In cases like these knowing whom you are speaking to and being able to verify that with a service such as http://telephone-searching.info/631/750/, can save much time and many dollars because it would be immediately apparent the agent is not who he says he is.

Scammers are especially happy when the victim sends a personal check. This allows them access to the bank account number, the required signature, complete address, and other information. Sending a personal bank check to con men can make the sender vulnerable to ripoff artists who steal their identity. Absolutely avoid these correspondences if you can, but if you do want to investigate these claims, consult the appropriate government agency to check up on them.

A Plan for Retirement

Published by kliu888 under Articles

In recent years we have all witnessed the dreadful collapse of the U.S. economy and heard the discouraging stories of workers on the verge of retirement who, having diligently planned, saved, and invested for their retirement, suddenly find themselves facing their latter years with failed retirement plans and limited prospects for recovery. In this aftermath, we, especially the young worker, must ask if it is still truly reasonable to plan for retirement.

Plan for your retirement, an earlier generation taught. Make your years of dedicated, diligent, hard, and honorable labor as a working man or woman in the United States the key to your dreams, dreams that you might realize in your later years. Defer immediate gratifications, buy the functional rather than the aesthetic, the practical rather than the proud, save, invest, live modestly, temperately, with an eye on the years when your age would decrease your energy, your strength, your ability to do a full day’s work, when you would have to rely on your savings and investment to live in the manner you will have achieved in the course of your working life. Make a plan for retirement and live by it was the common wisdom then–and it worked.

It worked for the young workers of post World War II. For most of those of that generation who could claim more than a few dollars of disposal income each month, the wisdom was heeded; each followed a plan for retirement. Between the 1950s and the 1990s, a retirement plan had a high probability of success. By adhering to a retirement plan, many lives were consummated, and many last years were spent in leisure and ease. Planning for retirement proved wise.

That was then, when the U.S. economy was growing steadily, when U.S. businesses, U.S. technology, and the country itself was leading the world. Even with several setbacks, the U.S. continually recovered, advanced, and surpassed. Faith in the stability and growth of the U.S. was at its highest. But that was then. This is now. Since the recent failures of our banks, the near catastrophic collapse of Wall Street, the failure of big businesses that depleted retirement funds, faith in U.S. business is now at an all time low. Now, a plan for retirement seems more like an infantile dream than an act of prudence.

Now, the young worker able to put aside for retirement must align retirement dreams and retirement plan to the hard and difficult realities before us. Now, workers are going to have to work longer and harder for retirement savings and investments. Now, they are called on to be even more frugal than their parents or grandparents had been. Many will have to rely mainly on CDs, IRAs and 401K plans after finding themselves in a lower income bracket. Those staying even or earning more do have opportunities as long-term investments become cheaper, but risks are higher than ever. Investments will have to take a back seat to savings. Most who plan for retirement will rely more heavily on their employer’s retirement plans, preferably ones that match the employee’s contributions. The young worker will have to give preference to a plan for retirement over a plan for educating their children (you can always borrow to send them to school). Some will now do better to pay down their mortgage. Most will have to give up dreams of world cruises and million dollar retirement homes. All will have to have a greater faith in the U.S. business then did their ancestors. A retirement plan is still feasible, but more difficult to achieve.

Whether good times or bad, a retirement plan is still prudent. After all, in all likelihood, one day you’ll be in your sixties, perhaps with twenty or more years before you, a little weaker, a little slower, a little more tired, deserving of a lighter load, some leisure, and gentle ease. With all the work you’ll have to do to get to retirement age, retirement you will certainly need.

Charity Giving Scams

Published by tokyosoon under Articles

Deep down, each of us wants to help those who are less fortunate than we are. Many people help others through donations to a large assortment of charity and non-profit organizations. Unfortunately, scammers have seen this as ‘easy money’ and have devised various schemes to take advantage of the situation.

One charity scam which has been prevalent in the past few years is helping families and children overseas. The fact is our media is saturated with cases of starving children and poor families. Potential recipients are informed just how much their money will help and what it will provide for them.

While no one wants to see children or families suffer, donating money without a thorough knowledge of where it will go is not a wise decision. Frauds that have been exposed make it clear that the funds given to these alleged charitable organizations were instead used solely for the benefit of the organizers, and little or no money went to the needy. This gives all charities a bad name and, actually, many work hard to ensure that donated dollars go exactly where they should.

Often charities advertise through various media channels, such as television, magazines, and the Internet. They ask for donations from ten dollars up. The advertising itself is expensive, and much of the money goes for this purpose.

In one case, a charity organization was authentic, completely registered, and really did send money and resources to foreign countries. However, investigation revealed that ninety percent of the money received went for the overhead of the directors who received large salaries. This left very little for the needy and, in the end, this charity was just another deceit.

Charity scams come in many forms. They can be requests on behalf of the homeless, fighting animal cruelty, the poor, and nearly any other type of help. Sincere charitable foundations do indeed exist, but others are set up for the sole purpose of transferring money from your bank account to theirs.

In order to avoid this from happening, it is vital that you take the time to research the organization completely. Investigations can be done yourself on the Internet or by checking with the Better Business Bureau, the Consumer Complaint Agency, or some other way. In the event that a name and telephone information is given, it is essential to use telephone services such as http://ip-vortex.com/235/index.htm to validate the identity of the person.

One should be especially suspect of people coming to the door with cans supposedly collecting for a well-known charity. You have no way of knowing if the donation really does go to the organization or not. In the end, direct donations through the organization’s channel is your best solution.

Hip and Leg Pain – Failed Warranty-Free Implants as the Cause

Published by kliu888 under Articles

Artificial hip implants are supposed to last about 15 – 20 years. And yet my father, barely 2 years into his artificial implant surgery, began to complain of serious hip and leg pain and found that his high-priced hip implants had failed. Not only did he have to put up with all the pain and mental anguish, we had to pay $70,000 to have the failed implants removed and new ones put in. We’ve heard a lot from the manufacturer who made that implant; they want to take a close look at it to see what went wrong. But not once has there been an offer to replace it under warranty or anything. That’s when I found out that the consumer protection warranty and return rules that apply to a $50 boombox, are nowhere to be seen for life-saving systems like medical implants.

There are hundreds of thousands of elderly people who put themselves through implant surgery each year – their Medicare pays the $30,000 it takes to get a complete set. And yet, manufacturers’ warranties are unheard of. When they fail, if only in a few unfortunate people, even if it was entirely the manufacturer’s fault for making a poor quality product, they can be out of pocket for tens of thousands of dollars, and often, it’ll be the doctor selling you the implants and profiting from them. For a government that is trying its best to pay for a new and expensive healthcare plan, little has been done to make manufacturers own up responsibility for faulty products that cost the government millions upon millions of dollars each year.

It’s not as if there are no implants that are covered by warranties; defibrillators, the implants used in your heart for a regular heart pulse, have come with manufacturers warranties for decades. Some, like my father, have sued the manufacturers for costs, and they have won. But these are one-off cases; most patients who must deal with terrible hip and leg pain and failed implants, just need to suck it up and pay for it themselves. The companies, reputable ones like Johnson & Johnson, say that guarantees are difficult to give because having an implant fail can often come about not through the manufacturer’s fault, but through careless surgery and post-surgery care given. So basically what you have is an industry that sells maybe $5 billion worth of implants a year, with no such thing as responsibility owned up to.

In the hospital, my father met some patients who were in with unbearable hip and leg pain, because they had had more than two or three implants fail, and needed to correct matters with new surgery each time. Some of Johnson & Johnson’s devices, the ASR device in particular, seem to devastate these hapless old people. Why is it though that some of these manufacturers offer warranties in other countries? Are US laws so lax that we can’t even protect our own citizens anymore?

I knew at the very begining that it was too risky but I took all the risk without saying a single word to my wife. But in the long run, I was so glad because my effort was all paid off.

However, this wholesale closeout is always a gamble because it’s all about how you carry it in order to earn profit. You can use drop shipping if you want, but ultimately it is best to be in control of your own inventory.

When trying to choose a low cost air popcorn maker, decisions should not be based upon the appearance of the unit. Avoid Crispy Appliances With A Simple Surge Protector

Published by kliu888 under Articles

Most non-engineering types have at best a high school grasp of electricity and electronics. We know that electricity is the flow of electrons down some conductive medium, that the flow releases energy that does such things as run a fan, make a light bulb glow, make a television show and tell, in fact, makes all electronic things functions. Electricity is the power behind all our electrical appliances, and a good thing, unless you happen to lack protection when that one in a million overdose of electricity comes flowing through your wires.

We tend to think that electricity flows at an even and constant state. The specs say its a 120 volt output we’re getting from our wall sockets, and yes, most often that’s exactly what you’re getting, with so many amps to boot. You’ve got your appliances, your refrigerator, your television, your computer, your radio, your lamps, your fans and heaters all drawing a steady 120 volts in what seems a consistent, uninterrupted manner. This consistency makes you think surge protectors are superfluous. Sure, sometimes you’ll notice that a light bulb grows a bit dimmer for a moment when a rainstorm somewhere seems to be draining electricity, but rarely do you see that light bulb glow brighter than it normally does. If it did glow brighter, well, that may be a surge of electricity coming through, but what’s wrong with a brighter light? Not much, until it burns out because of the surge of electricity that’s overheating the filament that’s going to fry. Too bad you’re not using protection.

Surge protectors do exactly what the name says; they protect against surges of electricity. No, the flow of electricity through the wires of your house are not always consistent and even. Sometimes the amount of electricity may fall, and then your light flickers or your computer goes out. There are devices that will protect against power underflows, but most of us do not use them since an underflow generally causes little inconvenience. This is not true, however, if you’re in the middle of writing an email on your computer and the computer crashes. For those who need a continuous supply of electricity, a backup, battery type device is what you need. Here, we’re talking about something more serious, a surge of electricity that could fry all the circuits in your computer, you television, you radio, your security system. Without surge protectors to prevent this, your only option after the surge has done its worst is to go out and buy a new device.

Surge protectors are relatively inexpensive. They are generally an elongated metal case with a power cord that plugs into your wall socket and a series of female sockets in which you plug your appliances. Most come with an on/off switch to cut electricity to all that is plugged into it. If a surge occurs, the circuitry of surge protectors immediately break all flow of electricity to the female plugs. After a few minutes, you may press a reset button that will bring the electricity back to the plugs. They’re about ten dollar now. For ten dollars you can protect that thousand dollar machine from becoming a useless piece of junk. Protect your precious electronic devices. Put all of them on surge protectors and be glad when they kick in. It could have been worse.

One particular option you might want to explore is over-the-counter hearing aids, which can be a very good answer, dependant on a person’s situation. These aren’t necessarily low-cost hearing aids, but are usually a lot more reasonably priced compared to their doctor prescribed cousins. This can be especially important should your medical insurance, like most, doesn’t provide coverage for the money necessary for prescribed hearing devices, which can run into hundreds and hundreds of dollars, even though over-the-counter versions tend to be less inexpensive.

Insurance for Cellphones

Published by zibble under Articles

Cell phones have become a necessity for most of us. If you own a smartphone, you know they aren’t cheap. If your phone breaks, everything becomes more difficult until it is replaced. And losing a phone or having it stolen may prove costly to you. Especially if you have to pay the cost of any calls made on it before it is reported stolen. Some people are just more prone to losing their phone or dropping it. Coverage is doubly important for those folks.

Smartphones easily run several hundred dollars. It’s not uncommon for someones phone to cost as much as their laptop. Of course since smart phones are computers, they can be prone to shock, moisture, and other hazards. So, anyone who depends on their smart computer phone will naturally tend to worry about losing it. Insuring a smartphone is a wise thing to think about for those people.

Murrieta Insurance Tips

Published by contacttlp under Articles

Whether you live in Temecula or Murrieta there are many different types of Murrieta insurance that one can buy if you live in these Southern California cities. Life insurance is crucial to protecting loved ones that may be left behind in case of a death. Health insurance protects a person from the astronomical costs of medicine. Automobile insurance, considered extremely important, is mandated by law that a person does not drive until he has it. Nevertheless, homeowner’s insurance is one of the most important types of insurance a person can purchase. Although it is not always mandatory, this type of Murrieta insurance keeps people from paying for unforeseen occurrences that can be so damaging, they can take away a family’s home in seconds.

Due to this erratic nature of the weather, it is almost impossible to guarantee that nothing will befall one’s house. Violent storms, flooding, falling trees and earthquakes can destroy homes easily, without warning. These can also have an affect on nearby Temecula California and it would be wise to purchase Temecula insurance if that is the case. Homeowner’s insurance proves to be the best way to make sure that one does not pay for all these damages that would occur. Generally speaking, when a house is purchased the buyers are made to select an insurance plan to go along with their mortgage. Nevertheless, there are instances in which this does not apply. The wreckage that can befall a house, however, is so extreme that it is imperative that homeowners research plans even if they are not required to.

Another great element of Murrieta home insurance is that it usually protects all the valuables in a house. While the house is clearly a worthy entity to insure, items such as money, jewelry, furniture, and electronic equipment also cost quite a lot, and are sometimes irreplaceable. Objects such as these are worth taking out a policy on, for one would hemorrhage thousands of dollars trying to replace theses items. Even less expensive purchases, such as general clothing and toiletries, would still cost a large amount to replace. Using homeowner’s insurance, however, can protect your house and everything in it, making both Temecula and Murrieta insurance an essential investment in one’s security.

If Someone Steals Money, do they List it on their Income Tax Return Preparation?

Published by kliu888 under Articles

Maybe you have at some point, looked at your income tax return with disgust and thought to yourself, “Now this is what I get for making an honest living. If I was a criminal and made my fortune dealing in drugs or stealing from other people’s credit cards, the government wouldn’t expect me to pay a tax on that, would they?”. Actually, you are not alone in thinking that way. Al Capone made a statement to that effect, and he went to jail for years for tax evasion. In fact, when the police find it impossible to catch a criminal on any real charges, they usually find that they can nail them on tax evasion. These may not be the most conservative of income tax return preparation tips, but at the very least, even if they aren’t useful, they could be entertaining.

So well then, this is what the IRS considers taxable: anything of value you have coming in – even if you had to steal it to get it to come in. If there were prizes you won at something – you got cash because you were the fastest at your local steakhouse to eat a 24-ounce, or you got a couple of hundred dollars off a box of cereal, or anything – that counts. Let’s look at some of the more unconservative income sources you could have, that you’re supposed to take in account going in to your income tax return preparation.

How about what you get from insurance? If you had insurance money coming in for perhaps an old relative who died, or for health insurance or personal accident insurance, the good news is that these are not taxable. And that includes money you received as damages for emotional pain or distress – think getting paid damages for being stuck on the tarmac because JetBlue decided to bail on you. You’ve heard of credit card insurance haven’t you? It’s insurance you take out against the possibility that you might not be able to pay your credit card bills. If they pay your bill, you need to file for that. Any kind of party where you’d expect to sell something for profit or commission (think a gaming or Tupperware party), any incentive you receive from the company is taxable and whatever you spend on the party, is considered a deductible, as long as it isn’t higher than what you earn on the party.

If you run a political campaign of some kind, any contributions you receive for it, are not taxable, unless of course you dip into it to buy yourself a few snappy suits for personal use. However, if you don’t feel too bad about accepting a bribe in the course of the campaign, that is not official in any possible view, and so, it’s personal and taxable. Do you see a pattern here for what they expect you to bring to the table on your income tax return preparation? If you find an iPod that someone lost (to bad luck), the moment you stop looking for the owner, you are expected to pay taxes on what it would be worth if you went out and bought it in the condition it was in when you found it.

People get their incomes from all kinds of unconventional sources. Whatever you make on jury duty for example, you need to include in your income, on Form 1040. If you have a garage sale, those are taxable on Schedule D. Of course, considering unconventional things like these on your income tax return preparation can be quite complicated; with a little heads up on some of the intricacies, you could probably have a better time at it, than poor Al Capone.
