10 Mistakes To Avoid When Starting A Home Based Business.

Published by larryj under Articles

So you want to start a home based business? Hey That’s great. When I started my home based business I made a few mistakes. So I want to help anyone just starting out with their online business to avoid some of those time wasting mistakes.

1. First of all, before you start a home based business, you must know what it is you’ll be doing. You need to educate yourself about your “work at home” business. For example Internet Marketing , Placing classifieds , getting a WEB SITE ,Follow-ups ,etc.

2. SPAM What is SPAM? SPAM is unsolicited advertising. It is my opinion and many others who believe that SPAM is in the eye of the person being SPAMMED, not the person sending the SPAM. While you may not consider a message to be Spam, if the person receiving it does, it’s SPAM.

Lets look at some types of advertising that may be considered SPAM?

Bulk e-mailing (sending an e-mail advertisement to persons listed on an e-mail address lead
list).

Advertising with bulk e-mail services (companies who will send an e-mail advertisement to persons listed on an e-mail address lead list for you).

“Bounce back” e-mailing (sending an e-mail advertisement in reply to an e-mail advertisement
that was sent to you).

Advertising your Internet site to people that you don’t know, who didn’t specifically request the information.

These are only examples. Remember, SPAMMING includes ANY unsolicited advertising.

3. Posting ads on Forums: Like spamming , posting ads on forums message boards can get you banned. Forums are only to be used as sources of information about business opportunities.

4. Submitting to FFA’s. These are free for all sites that you can post your ads on. Take a little advice from me. Do not waste your time posting your ads on these sites, because your site will never get seen, because most FFA’s have such low rankings,it will give your site a low rank because you posted on them. Place your ads on classified ad sites instead.

5.Shouting. Other than using caps to emphasize a few words within an e-mail,or a web page, do not use all caps. Using all capital letters in a text or a correspondence is considered shouting, and shouting at people just causes them to leave.

Expanding Your Home Business

Published by JamesSchramko under Articles

When you work at home over the internet, you have to think of it as a business, and businesses are always looking for new opportunities to generate income. There are a number of ways to expand, and we’ll look at a couple of strategies to help you assess where opportunity lies.

The first thing that you have to do, though, is to think about what way you want to ex-pand. If you are working at home part time in order to generate a little extra income, then your available time is finite and you want to focus on maximizing the profitability of the hours you spend working, not drastically increase the amount of projects you take on.

On the other hand, if you are working from home full time, but you don’t have enough work to fill your week, you want to look for ways to increase your workload.

A Monthly Analysis

Go through your work records and write out a list of every job that you have worked on in the past month. Include in this list the amount of time you spent on each job and the amount of money you made. Also, where applicable, write down if a job resulted from repeat work from a satisfied client, if the job was the result of a referral, or if the job is ongoing. Now, do some quick math and figure out how much you made per hour with each job and then rank them accordingly.

This is the list that will help you determine how to make more income. As far as one-time jobs go, look to see if there is a pattern for the kind of work you did versus what you were paid. For example, if you are a web content writer and you find that writing blog posts netted you a higher hourly rate than instructional articles, then make a note to focus on getting more blog post jobs for the coming month.

For jobs that are ongoing or repeat projects, look to see how profitable they are when compared to other hourly rates, but keep in mind that while these projects may not make you as much sometimes, they essentially represent guaranteed work for the coming month.

Depending on the exact type of work that you do and the exact method of payment, you may need to adjust the parameters of the list, but just by looking at your work history, you’ll be able to see what areas are the most profitable for you, and these areas are the ones you want to explore more in the coming months.

Sample Business Plans

Published by jedi317 under Articles

Getting Started with Sample Business Plans

A few years ago, I decided to quit my day job and become my own boss. I had a great idea for an Internet/mail order company, and knew that I could make it work if given the right resources. Of course, to a would-be entrepreneur, “resources” usually means capital, which was definitely the case for me. I just didn’t have the money to get things rolling, but if I didn’t get in the game immediately, my chances of success would diminish. The smartest move I ever made was to review as many sample business plans as possible, and then model my own document on the best ones.

Why are sample business plans so important? Well, the main reason is that no banks or venture capitalists will take you seriously unless you can provide them with a formal statement about your proposed enterprise that includes specific goals and ways to achieve those goals. This document is by far the most critical sales pitch you’ll ever make as an entrepreneur, so you have to make sure that it’s perfect in terms of format and content. That’s where sample business plans come into play. After all, if you’ve never written one before, how will you know what you need to include?

Your own business

Looking for extra cash? Now may be the time to consider your own business, online!

Virtually everyone is feeling a bit nervous about job security these days. Just about every day, we hear on the news of another huge corporate layoff. So this may be the perfect time to start thinking about starting your own business online. It does take some time to make your business plan, implement it and build an online presence that brings in enough income to match what you’re currently making. The cost of starting an online business does not even approach the expense involved in starting a brick and mortar operation, so you don’t need huge amounts of cash to start your own business online. Let’s take a look to see how you can use this strategy to help insure yourself, should you become suddenly jobless.

The cost of starting a website is minimal. You’ll need a domain name, which can cost as little as $2. You can find a web hosting service for anywhere from $4.95 to about $15.00 per month. Most web hosting services provide you with a shopping cart to facilitate sales transactions, as well as automated email software to manage customer contacts and auto-responders. Using PayPal to process your transactions provides a hassle free and inexpensive merchant account vehicle.
